Weekly Color: Coral

Lately a lot of my clients have asked to use coral in their wedding invitations. It seems to be the wedding color of the year. It's pretty, don't you think?

Weekend Bits

Hello, my name is Erin and I am addicted to plants. This weekend we started our garden, went on a hike in a Redwood Preserve, went to the Oakland Farmer's Market, finished projects for a few of my clients and ate some delicious Greek food. Overall it was a great weekend. How was yours?

Apartment Decor: Living Room

We either sold or gave away almost all of our old furniture before we moved. Out of all the rooms, our living room seems to be the first room that we've almost fully furnished. At the end of the day it's kind of crucial to be able to unwind before hitting the hay. Here is the inspiration for our living room and a few of the items we started decorating with and few items that I'd love to have but can't imagine paying for.

A Work Perk

One of my favorite perks of working from home is that I can make a homemade, healthy lunch and enjoy it outside on our deck. What's for lunch today? Cheesy Quinoa Cakes with a Roasted Garlic and Lemon Aioli, Dried Peaches and a Garden Salad. Do you have a favorite recipe you like eating for lunch?

Recipe for the quinoa cakes can be found here.

The Best of Both Worlds

This past weekend Brett and I went on a hike at Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. What's great about it is that it's only a 5 minute drive from our house. We went on a foggy morning so it felt like we were on the set of Lord of the Rings. The views were awesome. What's amazing about the SF Bay Area is that you can be in the heart of the city one hour and then 30 minutes later you can be completely surrounded by nature. It's the best of both worlds if you ask me.

Inspired By: Color

With Spring around the corner (sort of), bright colors are all over the place. It must be the trend for Spring 2012. Seems so cheery, don't you think? We've started furnishing our apartment and while it's expensive it's also addicting and fun. I sadly know everything that is in stock at West ElmEQ3 and CB2.

Weekend Bits

oakland farmer's market // east bay express // berkeley exploration // view of san francisco // the plant obsession is getting worse

This morning Brett and I took our California driver's test and we both passed! So now we're officially California residents. It's been a good 5 years since I took any kind of test so I'll admit my palms were a little sweaty. Hope you had a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

This is a photo of our neighbors garden. I found it while running through my neighborhood this week. I saw it and stood in awe. Some of the plants look straight out of Dr. Seuss. I had a slight plant obsession while living in Brooklyn but now that I can grow things all year long and have more space, I'm a little worried this obsession might get even more serious.

Hope you have a great weekend!

NY to SF Road Trip: Day FIVE

On the last 3.5 hours of our trip I was so anxious. Brett had picked out the apartment himself so I knew very little about our new place. I don't have many photos from this leg of the trip because I was mostly too excited to take any and I took more video than anything. But we finally arrived in our new house and it's absolutely perfect. The boy did good. No, the boy did great. It's been 65 degrees and sunny ever since we got here and all the flowers are in bloom. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a very easy time adjusting to living here.

Thanks for letting me share photos from our  trip. Hope you've enjoyed them!

NY to SF Road Trip: Day FOUR

Day Four was a better day since we only had to drive about half the time we had been the last two days. Knowing we were staying with a good friend of ours for the night also made things nicer. I never thought I'd say this but Utah might be a new favorite state of mine. We were only in Park City for a few hours but I know I definitely want to go back. I think my favorite part of the trip was running around the Bonneville Salt Flats. We were both so tired of sitting that we pulled over and just ran for a few minutes. Felt quite good.

And luckily, Lake Tahoe is now our new Catskills.

NY to SF Road Trip: Day THREE

On Day Three I was starting to get a little anxious mostly because a lot of it was spent in Nebraska. It's a pretty state and all but I've never seen so much corn in my life and hope I don't have to again for a while. Luckily after Nebraska came Wyoming which I've always wanted to see. Since we had all entire lives packed into our truck we couldn't stop in any of the national parks but hopefully we'll go back.

The sunset in Wyoming was pretty memorable and at this point I was really just hoping for a glass of wine. The last leg of the trip is coming up next!
